The Outer Banks Fishing Pier in South Nags Head is well known for great fishing and it’s family atmosphere. This is the Outer Banks Pier closest to Oregon Inlet. It is open 24 hours a day and is lighted. This historic pier has been serving fishermen…and fisher women…for over 50 years. Milepost 18.5 in South Nags Head…nice drive, beautiful views. Open until Thanksgiving. Reopens on April 15th and from Memorial Day-Labor Day the pier is open 24/7.
No fishing license is required to fish from the Outer Banks Pier. Inside the Pier House you will find a fully stocked tackle shop where you can rent rods and reels and an oceanfront grill open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Video games for the kids too. Daily, weekly and weekend passes are available. This pier is truly a locals favorite and was voted Best Outer Banks Fishing Pier in 2013. Fish Head Bar and Grill is located at the Pier and offers outstanding views of the Atlantic Ocean and a very family friendly atmosphere. Good, really good, food and drinks. The seafood does not get much fresher. During the summer there is often entertainment on the deck and you will meet many locals who consider this “THE” place to go for a cold drink, to meet friends, eat a great fish sandwich and just relax.
