This is where it all started, by Kill Devil Hill in 1903, the Wright Brothers took their first flight. Come explore the place where it happened, and follow the actual milestones from that historic day. There is a life size replica of the Wright Flyer in the visitors’ center and the park rangers give a great presentation of the events leading up to its maiden voyage. Climb the hill to the granite memorial for a great view all the way to the ocean. Behind the memorial is a metal replica of the flyer that kids can climb on like a jungle gym and pretend to be Orville. Definitely on the must do list for your next trip to the Outer Banks!
