About Duck, NC
The Duck Town Park near Poteskeet offers many free activities throughout the summer. Village Realty sponsors free Yoga on the Green every Tuesday morning during the season. The park is also the start of a wonderful soundside boardwalk. This peaceful wooden path takes you over the sound and marsh, before swinging inland at Dockside seafood market, Wee Winks Square and Kitty Hawk Kites. Then it’s back out over the water and on to the Waterfront Shops and the Blue Pointe, and finally Tommy’s Market across from Cook Drive. In all, it’s about a mile walk through the heart of the Duck village. The community of Saltaire is across from Tommy’s, right at the northern end of the boardwalk.
If beach walking is more your style, dont miss the the Duck Research Pier. Surrounded by open space, it’s a quiet, uncrowded section of beach. North of the research pier you can find the communities of Osprey, Carolina Dunes, Northpoint and finally Sanderling. Here the island gets very narrow and it’s a short walk to ocean or sound from anywhere.
From Duck it is an easy drive north to the attractions in Corolla, or south to grocery shopping and all the action in Kitty Hawk and points south.
