DE03: Anchors Away

We've been staying here for about 10 years (sometimes 2x per year). Stayed for two weeks and it was a wonderful experience as usual. The owner does a nice job of providing an upscale experience - especially on the "little things" like kitchen pots/pans, knives, etc. (we buy local seafood and cook in every night!) We also love that the maintenance guys are keeping the walkway and gazebo clear of plant overgrowth and sand. A couple of things that came up this time: - It would be nice if the top floor bathroom was ADA-compliant (grab bars in the shower, etc.) and if it had a multi-function shower head like the bathrooms on the lower level. My handicapped mother uses this room, and both would be very much appreciated. - Obviously the deck table and chairs are nearing end-of-life. We eat outside every night (and LOVE it), so if these are removed, PLEASE make sure they are replaced with the same ability to eat out on the deck with the same general seating capacity. Overall a great two weeks - THANK YOU!

Weather was great for the week. Despite three red flag days and wind at the end of our stay, we enjoyed our time on the beach and having a hot tub makes those days be even better. This was our 10th stay at this home and it has been interesting to watch the transition from the old owners to the new ones through their renovations. We hope they continue to replace the flooring—especially in the shared hall bath which currently has carpeting (eww). The elevator was operable this year which makes unpacking easier.

We enjoyed our stay at Anchors Away very much. The privacy of the location and proximity to the ocean was wonderful. The house was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Our interactions with Village Realty were regarding entry and departure were professional and helpful. The front left burner on the gas stove does not work and needs to be addressed and also the fan in the bedroom on the top floor does not work and although I reported it in the beginning of the week, no one came to repair it while we were there. Also, someone needs to take a hammer to a number of the nails on the decking around the hot tub and the railings as they are beginning to "pop" out with age. I say this as a former owner of a beach house in Corolla were we found that as our decks aged we needed to do this to keep the decking surface and railings safe. Overall we had a wonderful week which is why we have rented Anchors Away again for next year!

It's a lovely home, with great amenities. Very well-appointed kitchen with plenty of tableware. Beautifully decorated, with great gathering spaces, and the location is wonderful. Close to everything, but right on the beach. We loved it!

We really enjoyed Anchors Away. The home has everything we needed and the location was excellent. We are a group of eight, with 6 of us being 72 and above. The elevator really won us over.

This house is fabulous. Beautifully decorated and beautiful views. The kitchen has everything you could possibly want or need. So convenient to get to beach . We have been coming to the outer banks for years and this is our favorite house by far.

Everything about this home was outstanding! Watching the spectacular sunrises every morning from the upper deck was relaxing and invigorating; I cant think of a better way to start the day. The accommodations were amazing; everything from the unbelievably well equipped kitchen, to the comfortable bedrooms, to the easy beach access, to the cozy, homey decor. The house was immaculate, well equipped and well maintained. We truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay!

We spent a wonderful week at Anchors Away with our family. The house is beautiful and big enough to accommodate the 8 of us with room to spare. The view from the deck of the beach and ocean is spectacular. It is so peaceful here. There is a lot to do in the area even in May. Dealing with the Village Realty folks was a pleasure. They were quick to respond to a minor maintenance, answer questions and provide information.

This was our second year at this house and we love it. House is beautiful, kitchen is well stocked and the views are amazing. The beach access going TO the beach was not a problem however getting back to the house proved more difficult. The steep pathway going back was very difficult for older members of our family to maneuver. If anything could be done to make that climb a little easier it would be greatly appreciated!

I loved this place! It had everything we needed and the floorplan worked very well. The decor was beautiful, subtly beachy but not over the top. We will definitely stay here again.

Well it certainly got off to a terrible start. I'm 90 years old and still recuperating from hip replacement surgery. My wife is 87 and has heart problems. So it was really very upsetting when I was half way to Nags Head to get a phone call from you saying the elevator was "damaged" and would not be available all week. Your staff said there was no comparable cottage we could be moved to. Later we learned the elevator had not been available for some time because of a new law but no phone call from you to tell us that. Your staffer then offered us compensation, $500 from you and $500 from the owner. And, on the bright side he offered to come and help us move in. And he did. I had been so excited about Anchors Aweigh from the day we booked it as it looked perfect for my family. It did not disappoint!!! Beautiful cottage, upscale everything! We have been staying on the Outer Banks for 70 years and we never found anything like this one. Great access to the beach for my wife and me among many other splendid features. We had previously booked it for two weeks next year but will cut back to one because we found we did not have access to the pool and clubhouse . I was sure we did because I had called your office the day before my daughter tried to utilize it and they said our cottage definitely qualified. That and the fact we could not cook Father's Day dinner because we were out of propane for the stove and also had no hot water. That was corrected on Monday. Checking the propane level should have been done by somebody on your staff. But we threw away all the bad vibes (I even found the steps good rehab for my hip) and we thoroughly enjoyed the nicest cottage we have ever rented.

Everyone loved the house! Plenty of room inside and on the deck. Great views of the ocean and easy access to it. Lots to do in Nags Head and nearby towns.

Incredibly appointed home in a beautiful oceanfront location. The photos convey the comfort and decor perfectly (some color changes since photos were taken). The kitchen was a joy to cook in, and any needed item was readily at hand. We adored sitting in the rocking chairs watching the ocean, dolphins, osprey, and other sea birds. I highly recommend this property - and hope that we will be back again soon.

The house was beautiful and spacious. Everyone I dealt with at Village Realty was friendly and helpful. A short walk/drive to the grocery store for last minute needs was very convenient. Can't beat the location! Lots to do in Nags Head and the surrounding towns.

A beautifully appointed home right on the ocean! The beach house was incredibly well furnished with everything one could want or need - and more! The kitchen is perfectly appointed for catering to a large crowd with plenty of professional equipment, dining and glassware. Beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are great. The location is stunning, and we loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the deck just to watch the waves, dolphins, and birds. Perfect place for family and friends to play, relax, and unwind!
