Sit on the breezy decks and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean horizon or take a dip or swim a few laps in the large private saltwater pool. Enjoy the serene enclosed outdoor space with plenty of room to soak up the sun, or spend the afternoon under one of the pergolas with a good book and your favorite beverage.
Duck Side of the Moon is beautifully furnished and decorated, with photographs of the Outer Banks by local and visiting artists. Bedrooms and common areas feature Roku TVs, with cable and DVD players as well in common areas. Duck Side of the Moon’s top level has vaulted ceilings and features a kitchen, a sunlit living room, and large dining area that open to wide decks, as well as a bathroom with a relaxing steam shower, a king bedroom with separate deck access, and an enclosed screen porch. The entry-level, just below, has a full bath and 3 bedrooms - one with king bed, one with two full beds, and a perfect room for kids with bunk beds that sleeps four. The lower level -- with direct access to the beautiful pool and outdoor dining and lounging areas -- has an indoor sitting/TV area and separate small kitchen (with dishwasher and an icemaker), plus two queen bedrooms and a full bath. An external freight elevator means that you can take luggage and groceries out of your car and send them up, saving your knees and back the hassle of lugging them up the steps. If you can’t be totally on vacation and need to work or go to school remotely there is high-bandwidth WiFi.
At Duck Side of the Moon, you have plenty of options of how to spend your day: Start the day with a short walk over to Duck Donuts or Tullio’s Bakery and grab fresh donuts or bagels for your gang to enjoy with coffee for breakfast. Then pass the hours with friends and family lounging poolside, listening to music on the outdoor speakers and enjoying al fresco meals in the covered outdoor dining area. Or spend the day playing in the surf at the beach, just a short walk down Plover Drive. For a change of pace, take a stroll over to the upscale shops at Scarborough Faire and other nearby shopping and grab an ice cream or spend the afternoon browsing. Later, you can head over to top restaurants such as Aqua, NC Coast, or Blue Point Grill, all just a short walk away, for a sunset cocktail and fine dining or a casual bite with the best views around. "Unbelievable vacation home. The backyard is an oasis and a wonderful option for times when the beach wasn’t a good beach day. We also enjoyed the fire pit one night.
The home slept 11 of us just fine. Kitchen well stocked, tvs in practically every room, clean and just an overall wonderful stay.
You could walk to the beach but I felt it was maybe just a bit too long for that. If walking you’ll definitely want a wagon to load your stuff up in to take with you. We rented bikes and loved riding to the beach as long as someone drove a car and dropped off everything we needed. There’s maybe 5 parking spots in front of the private beach access.
The town of Duck is super close so we rode bikes there and got donuts! Great places to eat out as well. I would definitely stay here again. "

"Eleven of us, three generations of our family, enjoyed a week’s vacation that couldn’t have been more perfect. The three levels of the house allowed each family to have their own space. The two kitchens were well equipped and conveniently located, with one on the bottom floor close to the pool. The backyard, with a beautiful saltwater pool, lots of comfy seating, a fire pit, grills, a covered patio with a large table and chairs, and a sound system, was a great place for the family to gather during the day and in the evening. We also enjoyed being able to walk or bike into town or down to the beach. We highly recommend this vacation rental. It was so wonderful, and we were all sad when it was time to leave."

"We just spent the last week of June at Duck Side of the Moon with our family of nine which included two teenagers and a 7 and 10 yr old. It was the perfect house for us! Everyone is asking to go back next year. The house accommodates both kids and adults with flexible sleeping options and gathering areas. The pool is lovely and a welcome refuge in the heat. There’s a wonderful variety of pool toys for the kids. We never barbecued but there were two charcoal grills. We did have the requisite s’mores around the fire pit one night. It is the most thoroughly equipped home I have rented. The location is perfect for short walk to the beach or into town for ice cream. The owners were wonderful in welcoming us and answering my numerous questions. We are from the West Coast so had never heard of Duck but we learned why it’s popular with people on the East Coast. "

"Amazing place with great hosts! Very well stocked kitchen and plenty of towels and linens. The house itself was better than the photos. We have stayed at beach houses before and have come to expect them to be much more beat-up than the photos, just because they get so much sand/wear/tear. This was the opposite! It was pristine and looked brand new. Could not have been cleaner. Short, pleasant walk to the beach, and short, pleasant walk to the shops/restaurants/boardwalk of Duck. Hosts were super responsive. We had a clogged toilet and someone showed up to fix it within the hour. The pool was clean and the perfect temp for kids. We would absolutely stay there again."

"Our family of 8 adults and 3 small children had an absolutely incredible week at Duck Side of the Moon. Communication with the property owner leading up to, and during, our stay was top notch, and we appreciated the sincere care that was put into making this a premier rental experience. We spent the vast majority of our time enjoying the immaculate backyard set up. The saltwater pool was gorgeous, and between the excellent landscaping, natural tree growth, and beautiful pergolas, we really appreciated that there were areas of shade at all times of day (especially staying with a newborn). The elevated outdoor space was the main selling point when we were deciding between this house and other rentals, and it genuinely exceeded our expectations. The location was also excellent - easy stroll to the beach or into town, and even on windy days at the beach the backyard/pool area was very protected and comfortable. Our group all agreed that we would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Duck Side of the Moon and hope to stay again in the future!"

"Our extended family (6 adults, 4 kids) found this home to be tastefully appointed and accommodated all of us comfortably. The four children slept in the two bunk beds, and the adults in the other rooms with Queens or King (in the top floor master).Some personal favorite features of the home was the walking steam shower on the top floor. Max temp 125 degrees and trippy colored lighting. Nice touch and kept in theme with the home`s name. The homeowners also took great care to select modern practical beach furniture and decorations. I love that every light switch and outlet was labeled. And a binder named "Info guide" was useful to understand all the property had to toffer.Whoever chooses to stay in the top floor master is privy to a private entry to the balcony with incredible views of the sunrise. It`s also the little things that make a difference. The house is climate controlled and informs you if a door or window has been left open. We had kids there. Enough said. There is a freight elevator that made loading and unloading painless. The outdoor shower was immaculate. No spiderwebs, mold, etc. like you might find at many beach homes. There is a hose just inside each entry point to the pool area. The upstairs deck has new adirondack chairs and benches. You can tell from every detail that the homeowners put an incredible amount of thought and care into the design of the remodel of the home. Did I mention the surround sound inside on the top floor? This made cooking and prepping food an entertaining experience. The outdoor area was not to be outdone. The saltwater pool was in fantastic condition and the beautiful landscaping really does provide a sense of privacy. We made use of the fully lit pergola at night and found the lounge chairs to be much more high end than you find at other beach homes (in my experience). There is a table for 10 under the pergola that sits closest to the home, with a fan! So thoughtful and practical. The pool area is also bluetooth enabled to hook up to your devices for music. There is a fire pit which we used to make s`mores. Seats 6 or 8 If I remember. And the permanently mounted charcoal grill is just steps away. What an amazing set up. Kudos. I highly recommend Duck side of the Moon. I`ve been coming to the OBX (Corolla, Southern Shores, Duck and Nags Head) since 2005. I`ve been in bigger and smaller homes depending on the company I travelled with but Duck Side of the Moon is by far my favorite property. I appreciate the craftsmanship, material selection, attention to detail and design layout choices that were made. The home owners clearly love their property. I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to find this home.Best wishes on your vacation."

"Duck Side of the Moon was a perfect escape for our extended family of 10 people. With three levels of living space and a separate kitchen prep area on the lower level, the house is ideal for a large group. Each bedroom is well-appointed with comfortable beds and wall-mounted TVs. The home is equipped with blue tooth capability making it very easy to play music from a device throughout the house. It is apparent that the homeowners take pride in their space, as seen in the decorating choices and pleasant artwork. We thoroughly enjoyed the large salt water pool and backyard with fire pit and plenty of lounge chairs. We felt like we were living on our own private island! We plan return to this quintessential Outer Banks home to make more memories!"

"My family and I had a wonderful time at Duck Side of the Moon! The house and location were fantastic. We particularly enjoyed the backyard and pool. It was the perfect oasis. The dining patio, the pergola lounge, and the fire pit, all accenting the saltwater pool, were perfect for relaxing and socializing. And on top of that the additional hung-lighting and the external sound system made it even more so! The house itself is nestled on a quiet treelined street just a few minute’s walk or bike ride from the quaint town of Duck, where you`ll find wonderful shops and restaurants. We particularly recommend The Treehouse Coffee Co. for breakfast and lunch.We highly recommend Duck Side of the Moon!"

"We traveled with a group of 3 families, which is 12 total people (6 adults, 6 kids). The 6 bedrooms were perfect for our group. All bedrooms had comfortable beds. The house was extremely clean when we arrived. The outdoor area around the pool was terrific. We spent the majority of the time outside either in the shaded areas, which seemed like they were just installed. Also, the outdoor furniture was super comfortable and well put together. We also all loved the location because we were able to bike to the beach and into town within minutes. Highly recommend this place."

"I recommend this Beach House to anyone who is vacationing in Duck. We had 16 of us fit comfortably for our much needed week of vacation the end of July! The outside space is even better than what the photos show. There is penty of outdoor furniture for everyone to sit outside and relax. The two pergolas have some kind of mesh cover on them, so you can go in the shade if you wish, or in our case were so amazing to have because it rained and drizzled a couple of days. It doesn’t fully protect from the rain, but it sure helped! Plus, there are beautiful lights to have on outside at night. Be sure to bring Firewood, as there is a total separate fire pit area with plenty of chairs, that was so nice to sit and relax by. The inside had everything we needed, so we were able to spend time inside comfortably as well. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to make meals. There is a Charcoal grill, that we got plenty of use out of, as well. Also plenty of room there as well for everyone to sit comfortably! There are lots of stairs to go up and down. However, the downstairs has a kitchen set up, that you can use while outside hanging out. The location of this home is the best! The access to the beach is right down the road ( there is limited parking spots if you wish to drive and drop off your stuff). Easy walk into town for plenty of shopping and fabulous food! The views and the food at the AQUA restaurant, right within walking distance, are unbelieveable! I also appreciated that the owners really took the time to send us a welcome basket while we were there and followed up with us after our stay. Those little things mean alot!"

"My family of 7 and my parents stayed in Duck for the first time. We absolutely loved the home! You cannot beat the location. 5 minute walk to the beach or town. The house was perfect ….it was clean, modern and comfortable. We spent a great deal of time by the pool listening to our favorite tunes through the Bluetooth speakers. The house was equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and for the pool. We would definitely recommend and stay here again!"

"Duck Side of the Moon has been lovingly restored! We choose Duck over and over again for it`s natural beauty, privacy, and the village experience. This house is a reflection of all that -- close to the beach with an easy walk to town and brand new decks that allow you take in the ocean and the live oaks. The house is is well-appointed and features all new flooring from top to bottom. We cooked the whole week and the kitchen provided everything we needed. The real gem of this house is the pool. It is an old-school tiled pool that is very big for beach standards. There are two pergolas that are tripped out in lights for the evening and plenty of lounge and adirondack chairs plus an outdoor dining area. We used the firepit and the grill during our stay -- I`d recommend a grill tray to deal with the ashes -- it`s a charcoal park grill. You will need to bring everything you need for the beach -- we donated six beach chairs to the house but hard to say if they`ll still be on site. We were surprised to find kayaks but the weather was not cooperative during our stay -- we did rent beach cruisers for the week and used them constantly to make a quick ride to the beach or to town. Great house - great location - great poolside!"
