Description
Update for the 2025 Season: All four bedrooms on the top level now include king beds. Make your escape to Afterdune Delight, an oceanfront retreat in Salvo that the entire family will love - including the canine members! A path leads from the backyard directly to the beach for fun-filled days of swimming, surfing and fishing. Back at the house, three levels of decking provide sun, shade and plenty of outdoor space for enjoying the salty ocean breezes. Take a relaxing soak in the bubbly hot tub or climb up to the Ship's Watch for breathtaking sunrises and panoramic views of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Inside, a sunroom off the living area serves as an extension of the great room and offers a wall of east-facing windows for enjoying the ocean view. Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams add to the coastal character of this unique space. The open-concept layout ensures sight lines and flow into the eat-in kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Sit down at the table for family meals or dine al fresco on the deck with picnic table. The stylish yet practical LVP flooring that runs throughout the home (including the bedrooms) is ideal for sandy feet and paws returning from the beach. Four of the five bedrooms are located on the top level, including a king suite with semi-private bath. Bed and bath linens are always included at no extra charge, and the beds will be made with fresh sheets and pillowcases prior to your arrival.
Downstairs, the expansive mid-level rec room is all about indoor fun with family and friends. Between the pool table, ping pong and foosball, everyone in your group can flex their skills or discover a talent they never knew they had. For more laid-back entertainment, kick up your feet and watch a movie or the big game on the 55" TV with Surround Sound. The mid-level also includes another full bath and the fifth bedroom - a bunk room perfect for kids. A laundry/utility room is equipped with an additional full-size fridge for storing the catch of the day or extra groceries. Stock up on provisions at The Blue Whale grocery store, which is only a short walk from the house and carries everything from produce, deli items and craft beer to beach supplies, bait and tackle.
Afterdune Delight is just 1 mile north of the popular Salvo Day Use Area, where you can experience the other side of the island. Maintained by the National Park Service, this family-friendly soundside beach includes a picnic area and restroom facilities. It's the perfect place for launching kayaks, kiteboards and SUP's. For more adventure, take a short drive south to Cape Hatteras where you can climb the lighthouse, go driving on the beach, or hop on a ferry to Ocracoke.

All I can say is wow what a stay. Vacationing in the OBX for the first time, I researched quite a bit. I can't count how many properties I shifted through, but I'm so glad I stumbled across this gem. Driving past the more populated areas up north, I was skeptical. But as I drove through the scenic dunes by Pea island I could tell this was going to be a special spot. The location is nestled in a perfect area. One of the only convenience stores/Gas station in town is a very short walk or a 1 minute drive. Long drive way and direct beach access made it seem secluded. The house itself had pefect views of sun rise/sun set and the roof deck was great for starry nights. The place had all the amenities you could ask for even great water pressure. The game room is equipped with everything a kid wants. Booking with Village Realty was professional. Checking in was simple and easy, the communication was instant. 10/10 would recommend and already thinking about next year.- Posted: 8/31/2024

Overall great!! We absolutely loved the location. The house was comfortable and the cleaning was solid. We would definitely stay there again. One significant problem needs immediate attention. There are several soft spots in the sub floor, particularly in the area of the hall bathroom where the flooring is coming up. It's a safety issue. Three smaller critiques. The master with the hall bath needs a new mattress, you roll down into the center. The bedroom also needs a second nightlamp and there could be a better setup with the curtain over the pillows. Lastly, the pool table needs some new pools ticks. Just helpful comments, because we really did love our stay and its a great house (and village realty was great to deal with)!!!!! Appreciated the multiple deck areas for options during high wind, rain etc. These type of homes sway in high wind. If you bring any senior animals or people they will have a lot of stairs to negotiate to get to each level. One lockable deck gate at main level but one missing spindle on ocean side rail so watch small animals or kids. Kitchen had the basics, but no sheet pans. Bring your own trash bags, seasonings, dishwasher pods, hand soaps etc. Easy walk to the beach but be mindful of everything prickly if you have pets or stray off trail. No provided beach cart, or gas grill, but charcoal grill available. Couple soft areas in floor near entrances. Basic, small hot tub, no cover lift/holder. Bring your own bluetooth speakers. Beds weren't comfortable to us (firm) and bedding was light. Remember to do your bulk shopping before you leave the populated areas and it should have everything else you need.
