Welcome to Sandy Cheeks in Kitty Hawk! This oasis was designed with family time in mind. Sandy Cheeks is located about a 5 to 7 minute walk from the beach, without having to cross over the speedy highway. This makes it very convenient to come back and forth to the house throughout your time on the beach. You’ll have no problem lugging up your food, beverages, and all your luggage to the top floors of the house as you’ll have full access to your own private elevator.
The upstairs of the house gives you a sneak peak of an ocean view and is an open layout meant for family gatherings and making memories. The large chefs kitchen was designed with the cook in mind! The large kitchen island seats at least eight people and is a perfect spot for your afternoon snacking. The large dining table is sure to seat your entire party and also serves as a great spot for game night. You’ll find that there are almost too many decks to count on this floor, with space for everyone to enjoy quiet time alone reading a book and sipping your morning coffee or making jokes and laughing with each other as you sit together soaking up the morning sun.
The middle floor is home to four bedrooms, three of which have king beds. The fourth bedroom has two pyramid bunks, with full beds on the bottom and twin beds on the top. You’ll also find three bathrooms and laundry on this floor to make your life easier throughout your stay. Each bedroom on this floor has its own access to the outside decks. The decks are furnished with Adirondack chairs and a swing, so you can ensure you get the most relaxation time during your stay.
The ground floor is home to the fifth bedroom which is a king bed and has a shared bathroom to the rest of the floor. You’ll also find that you’ll spend a lot of your time in the game room playing pool, watching TV, and sitting around hanging out with each other.
If you’re not at the beach, you’ll probably find yourself outside lounging in the large pool, soaking in the hot tub, playing yard games, grilling food, and just soaking up the sun.

Perfect beach house for our family. Plenty of seating in the kitchen/dining room. Cabinets were very well stocked with kitchen utensils and dishes. Pool area was perfect with a hot tub too! Walk to the beach was a breeze. Bed rooms were great, plenty of storage in the closets.- Posted: 6/15/2024

Our stay was fabulous! The only recommendations that I have are: (1) Put an outdoor tv by the pool area under the covered porch. (2) Put an ice maker on the kitchen floor. The refrigerator's ice maker had trouble keeping up with the demand for ice. My family, friends and I look forward to staying at your wonderful beach house again!- Posted: 5/25/2024

The house is beautiful. Love the porches and the pool and the open spaces. Well furnished. Distance to the beach is walkable. MInor concerns: the busy road in front is very noisy. Other people are putting garbage in garbage cans. One towel/person is not great. On very hot days, maybe a warning that the sand can get very hot? - had a family member burn the bottom of their feet (don't know how you would communicate this?)- Posted: 8/1/2023

We have been renting homes in the OBX for decades and this was the most well equipped one yet. Especially for my Japanese wife, kids and Sister in law, to have a rice cooker brought a huge smile. A few comments: 1) I would advise putting instructions for how to use the elevator in your binder. My wife got stuck in it between floors. Also when it was on the second floor, you couldn't call it from another floor. I don't know if it just needs a service to tweak it, but it should be looked at. 2) I would advise putting instructions to get the outdoor speakers to work in the binder. If guests are not supposed to use it, then that should go in the binder instead. 3) I would move the cable box out of the cabinet, having to leave the cabinet door open to use the cable remote wasn't obvious. Or you could put that in the instructions in the binder also. It really was a great rental, those suggestions would make it even better- Posted: 7/1/2023
