Description
Located on a point in the Roanoke Sound, this distinctive cottage with a coastal watchtower claims almost 360-degree views from the Bodie Island Lighthouse to the south, to Roanoke Island in the west, the Roanoke Sound to the north, and Nags Head to the east. You'll never stay anywhere else after vacationing in this spacious cottage which captures sunrises, spectacular sunsets, and the flickering light of the lighthouse at night. From the expansive porches which surround the house, watch sailboats, jet skiers, kite boarders and wind surfers. Go fishing or crabbing off the dock or the banks just feet from the house. Bring your own or rent a kayak and explore the canals, shoreline, and islands in the sound or bring your own boat or jet ski and enjoy the private beach located nearby. Splash around and cool off in the large 24' saltwater pool or warm up in the evening in the 6-person hot tub. You can always find somewhere to spread out and relax in this 5,700 square-foot house with so many amenities on its nearly one-acre lot.
Although it is recently built, the Lone Cedar II is steeped in tradition and history. The owner's family moved into the Lone Cedar Club house on this land in the 1960's. Mentioned in David Stick's book on the history of the Outer Banks, the original Lone Cedar was built at the turn of the 20th century as a duck hunting club. This new cottage displays some silverware, plates, and cups from the old Lone Cedar. There is also a barometer which the Norfolk Weather Bureau depended on to chart the location of hurricanes as they passed along the coast. Examine the clay smoking pipes dating from the early 1700's that were dredged up near this cottage. You can't leave without feeling that you have lived some history here.
Amenities and features were well thought out with the vacationer's comfort in mind and include 4 master bedrooms with private baths including hair dryers, wrap-around porches, and a screened in porch. There are TVs throughout the home, including a 60" HDTV in the great room and Blu-Ray player and a 65" TV in the rec room and 26" or 32" screens in bedrooms, library and kitchen area. The well-equipped kitchen has two convection ovens and a five-burner gas cooktop. There are 2 dishwashers and an island with a prep sink. This is truly a "cook's kitchen" with granite countertops, a beverage refrigerator, a Keurig and a workstation with cookbooks, bar with prep sink, and an ice maker. The spacious rec room has a pool table, seating area, table and chairs, and kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, icemaker, microwave, and dishwasher. Lone Cedar II is perfect for families with small children, with a designated play room on the mid-level and a play area in the main living room where kids will find books, puzzles and toys. There are 2 washers and dryers in the home and the large 2-car garage also has a ping pong table, foosball table, and seating area. Outside, guests can use the charcoal grill for cooking steaks, burgers, or the catch of the day.
Stay at Lone Cedar II during the month of December to get your family in the holiday spirit! You'll arrive to festive decor throughout the home, including a full size, pre-decorated Christmas tree, stockings, nutcrackers and holiday table settings. Nearby seasonal events include WinterLights at the Elizabethan Gardens and the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting in downtown Manteo.
This home has a no smoking policy and pets are not allowed.

This was our third stay at Lone Cedar II and it was absolutely amazing! This home has the best water views in all of the OBX! It is well appointed, very clean, and offers lots of games and fun for the whole family! Karen is a wonderful host and we hope to return again next year. We visit OBX at least 5 times a year and this is by far the best home we’ve stayed in. We will be back!- Posted: 3/29/2025

This was our second time staying in Lone Cedar II, we love this house. The property is in a great location, the fishing was great, and it has everything you need. Plus, the house we had rented for the week suffered damage and the owner was kind enough to let us stay at her home.- Posted: 9/1/2023

Lone Cedar II is the nicest home we`ve ever rented from Village Realty. It`s a gorgeous home with everything you need - a true home away from home. Karen has done a fantastic job (great floorplan, nice decor, appliance/equipment instructions and all the little extra things that make for a great rental). We really enjoyed the holiday decorations. We look forward to coming back. Thanks Karen!- Posted: 12/1/2022

We stayed at Lone Cedar II for two weeks this fall as a staycation for us with friends and family from out of town. The home was absolutely perfect. We loved the large open living, dining, and kitchen space for everyone to gather in each evening. The decks gave us the most perfect sunset views we’ve ever seen here on OBX. The bedrooms were spacious and there was plenty of room for everyone. The pool table and hot tub provided fun evenings every night. Karen, the owner, keeps the home impeccably well put together and this was the cleanest vacation rental I’ve ever seen. We look forward to making this an annual tradition!- Posted: 11/1/2021
