Island Farm is a living history site located 2 miles north of Manteo on Roanoke Island, only 5 minutes from Roanoke Island Festival Park and the North Carolina Aquarium. Experience life on the island as it was in the mid-1800s before the Civil War. Interpreters are dressed in period attire and carry out daily chores and activities. Take an ox-drawn wagon ride around the farm, visit with the farm’s animals, help a farmer in the garden, or sample a corn cake from the cookhouse made in a skillet over a fire. Take a self-guided tour through the oldest, period restoration of a house on Roanoke Island. Kids will be fascinated with the 19th-century toys and games. Activities vary daily and by season and are weather dependent. Island Farm also offers special events in the Spring and Fall.
