The cooler is a few years old to the market now, so the price is very attractive. Normal retail is $449, found it on sale at Amazon.com for $175 + free shipping. Booyah!

For the Surfer

Legends of the Sandbar – Chris Bickford

Although ranked as some of the best surfing in North America, there has never been a single book dedicated to surfing the Outer Banks. If you’re looking to spend a little more and go over the top, this carved wood chart of the Outer Banks was my runner-up pick for $298.

For the Cook

Outer Banks Cookbook – OBX LIfe Photography

Have you ever wanted to take home the secrets of some of the best restaurants on the Outer Banks? Now you can! with “Food as Art on the Outer Banks.”

This 6″x9″ soft cover book features 30 recipes and each is beautifully illustrated with photographs from OBX Life Photography. Recipes include the famous Saint Martin Shrimp from Tortuga’s Lie and Outer Banks Brewing Station’s Tuna Tacos. For our vegetarian friends, half the recipes are meatless so you can enjoy incredible desserts like Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Pie from The Saltbox Cafe or scrumptious soups like Roasted Red Pepper Bisque from Trio. “Kill Devil Rum” is the pioneer product line at this distillery located in historic Manteo, NC., appropriately named after the legendary barrels of shipwreck-salvaged rum so strong it could kill the devil! A silver rum was first introduced last year and quickly followed by a version flavored with local pecans and honey. While you won’t be getting your hands on any of the small-batch spiced rum just yet, you can, fortunately, order both the silver rum and honey pecan rum online. Prices vary.
